Search Rules
This page provides public access to the rules used in the UCC Services online search.

UCC11 Information Request Search:
  • Individual Search: the search is evaluated using the exact individual surname entered by the user. The first personal name and additional name fields are evaluated for exact matches as well as for records that have only a first initial where that initial matches the first letter of the search value. If the search value entered by the user is a single letter, all personal names or additional names starting with the search value will be included in the result. The individual surname is required.
  • Organization Search: the search is evaluated using the exact organization name entered by the user. Organization name endings (i.e. Corp, LLC) are disregarded.
  • The search disregards spaces, capitalization and all punctuation in the name values.

Unofficial Name Search:
  • Individual Search: the search is evaluated using the exact individual surname entered by the user and will include all names that start with the first personal name value entered by the user. The individual surname is required.
  • Organization Search: the search is evaluated using the exact organization name entered by the user.
  • The search disregards spaces, capitalization and all punctuation in the name values.
  • Only the first 500 results found will be returned.

UCC Document Number Search:
  • The user is not required to enter preceding zeros in the UCC Document Number.
  • Only an exact match will result in a record being returned in the search results.

All UCC Searches:
  • When entering your search criteria be aware that the number one ‘1’ and the letter ‘l’, as well as the number ‘0’ and the letter ‘O’ look alike in certain type styles, but are different characters. In both of these cases, depending on which letter or character is entered, it will generate different search results. Please be sure to enter the correct letter or character you desire when entering your search criteria.
